Reactive power compensation capacitors are important equipment for achieving reactive power balance in power systems. The switching operation of the capacitor bank will generate overcurrent and overvoltage impact, causing damage to the capacitors.
To ensure the reliability of the equipment, early detection of capacitor defects and avoid the expansion of faults require regular testing. On site, capacitors are all connected in parallel in groups. The traditional method is to remove the capacitor busbar and use an old-fashioned capacitance meter for measurement. Due to the fact that the capacitor group is composed of dozens to hundreds of small capacitors, the workload of measuring capacitance by disconnecting the wires is very large. Moreover, frequent disconnection can cause screws to slip or not be tightened, leaving safety hazards and easily causing secondary damage to the capacitors.
