The water pump is one of the important components of the car engine cooling system. The function of the water pump is to pressurize the coolant, ensuring its circulation in the cooling system and accelerating the dissipation of heat. As a long-term operating device, the water pump may also malfunction during use. How can these malfunctions be repaired? Check the pump body and pulley for wear and damage, and replace them if necessary. Check if the water pump shaft is bent, if the shaft neck is worn, and if the shaft end threads are damaged. Check whether the blades on the impeller are broken and whether the shaft holes are severely worn. Check the wear and tear of the water seal and rubber gasket, and replace them with new ones if they exceed their usage limit. Check the wear of the bearings and measure the clearance with a gauge. If it exceeds 0.10mm, replace the bearings with new ones. After the water pump is removed, it can be disassembled in order. After disassembly, the parts should be cleaned and inspected one by one for defects such as cracks, damage, and wear. If there are serious defects, they should be replaced.

Repair of water seal and seat: If the water seal is worn and grooved, it can be smoothed with sandpaper. If it is worn too much, it should be replaced; If there are rough scratches on the water seal seat, it can be repaired with a flat reamer or on a lathe. New water seal components should be replaced during major repairs. Check whether the water pump bearings rotate flexibly or make abnormal noises. If so, it indicates that there is a problem with the bearings and they should be replaced.

After the water pump is assembled, rotate it by hand, and the pump shaft should be free of jamming, and the impeller should not rub against the pump casing. Then check the drainage volume of the water pump, and if there are any problems, investigate the cause and eliminate them. If the water pump malfunctions, the coolant will not be able to reach the corresponding location, and its performance will not be effectively utilized, ultimately affecting the working condition of the engine. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the inspection of water pumps.
