Precautions for using activated carbon purifier

1. The discharge port at the top of the activated carbon purifier is used for sampling and inspection of activated carbon.

2. Observe the entire system weekly to confirm that the activated carbon layer and electrical control equipment are operating normally.

3. Monthly inspection of door sealing condition: Conduct detailed checks on all inlet and outlet valve controllers, motors, and equipment according to their operational functions

4. Extract activated carbon from each activated carbon layer every month for inspection, checking for blockages and saturation of the activated carbon.

5. Regularly check the insulation resistance of the activated carbon tower, fan, and their circuits once a month. The method is to use a 500V megohmmeter to measure the insulation resistance from the output terminal of the thermal relay to the ground (the grounding terminal of the electrical box). If it is lower than 0.5 megohms, the cause should be identified, the fault should be eliminated, and normal operation should be restored;

6. The fan should be maintained annually, and the insulation resistance value of the motor should be greater than 2 megohms.

Precautions for using activated carbon purifier filter screen

There are many types of filters for activated carbon purifiers, and activated carbon filters are the ones that most air purifiers choose to match because activated carbon has an absorption effect on odors and most organic molecules. However, there are many things to pay attention to when using activated carbon filters in air purifiers, and consumers need to carefully distinguish and avoid purchasing inferior air purifiers.

Activated carbon filters generally use aluminum honeycomb, plastic honeycomb, and paper honeycomb with through-hole structures as carriers. Honeycomb shaped activated carbon filter is made by attaching powdered activated carbon onto polyurethane foam, with a carbon content of about 35% to 50%. The adsorption performance of activated carbon can be used for volatile organic compounds such as formaldehyde, toluene, and hydrogen sulfide in indoor air, and it has good deodorization and odor removal properties.

However, some air purifiers on the market use activated carbon filters that are of poor quality or poorly designed, which not only fail to purify the air but also cause secondary pollution.

If cheap charcoal is used as the activated carbon material for the filter, the charcoal will be blown out due to insufficient adhesion. Generally speaking, HEPA filters are designed after activated carbon filters, so that carbon powder is blocked by the HEPA filter and air purification can still proceed smoothly. If carbon powder is blown out during the operation of the air purifier, either the design of the air purifier is flawed and the manufacturer places the activated carbon filter after the HEPA filter, or there is a quality issue and the HEPA filter is ineffective.

5. Consumers should pay attention to the selection of activated carbon filters when purchasing air purifiers. Generally speaking, high cost coal based activated carbon and coconut shell activated carbon materials have a stronger structure than charcoal activated carbon and are not easily blown off the carbon powder.
