I. Overview

CJSVG/DSTATCOM (Distributed Static Synchronous Compensator) is currently the most advanced parallel reactive power compensation device used to improve power grid stability, increase transmission capacity, eliminate reactive power surges, filter out harmonics, and balance three-phase power grids. By adjusting the amplitude and phase of the AC output voltage of the inverter relative to the system voltage, the required reactive power can be quickly absorbed or emitted, achieving the goal of rapid dynamic adjustment of reactive power. Based on the VSC structure, it has achieved a qualitative leap in reactive power compensation methods, without the need for large capacity capacitors and inductors. Instead, high-power power electronic devices (such as IGBTs) that can be turned off are used to convert the DC side voltage into an output voltage of the same frequency as the grid, realizing the conversion of reactive energy and compensating for fundamental reactive power. In addition, when considering harmonic compensation, SVG acts as a controllable harmonic source that can actively track and compensate based on system conditions.
