The role of aluminum silicate in coatings
1. Ultra fine aluminum silicate replaces some titanium, and its dry film coverage does not change, and it can improve the whiteness of the paint. If the amount of titanium remains unchanged, its dry film coverage is significantly improved, and the whiteness is greatly increased.
2. The pH range of ultrafine aluminum silicate is 9.7-10.8, and it has a pH buffering effect. Especially during the storage process of vinyl acetate latex paint, it can prevent the phenomenon of pH value decreasing due to the hydrolysis of vinyl acetate, increase the dispersion stability of latex paint, and avoid metal capacitance

3. The ultrafine and grid structure of aluminum silicate slightly thickens the latex paint system, provides good suspension, and prevents the occurrence of solid sinking and surface water separation.
4. Ultra fine aluminum silicate provides latex paint film with excellent scrub resistance, weather resistance, and can also shorten surface drying time.
5. Ultra fine aluminum silicate has a matting effect, so it can be used as an economical matting agent in semi gloss and matte paints, but should not be used in glossy paints.
Attention: Ultra fine aluminum silicate must be evenly dispersed during use to demonstrate good synergistic effects, otherwise it may cause thickening of the latex paint. Replacing some titanium with ultrafine aluminum silicate is a commonly used technology in the domestic and international coating industry, which has significant economic benefits. The suitable dosage of ultrafine aluminum silicate in matte and semi gloss latex paint is 15-25% of the titanium dosage (4-6% of the total coating amount), but the substitution amount varies with different formulations. It is recommended that users conduct some small tests before application to maximize the substitution of titanium dioxide dosage without affecting the coating coverage and achieve good use effect.
