Ammonia desulfurization is an efficient and low-energy wet desulfurization method. The desulfurization process involves gas-liquid phase reaction with fast reaction rate and high utilization rate of absorbent, which can maintain a desulfurization efficiency of 95-99%.

The ammonia method has abundant raw materials. The ammonia method uses ammonia as raw material, which can be in the form of liquid ammonia, ammonia water, and ammonium bicarbonate. At present, China's thermal power plants emit about 10 million tons of sulfur dioxide annually. The ammonia recovery method technology converts all recovered sulfur dioxide and ammonia into fertilizers, without producing any wastewater, waste liquid, or residue, and without secondary pollution. It is a truly resourceful desulfurization technology that meets the requirements of a circular economy.
2. High value of desulfurization by-products
The operation process of the ammonia recovery desulfurization device is the production process of ammonium sulfate. For every ton of liquid ammonia absorbed, 2 tons of sulfur dioxide can be removed, producing 4 tons of ammonium sulfate. According to the conventional prices of 2000 yuan/ton for liquid ammonia and 700 yuan/ton for ammonium sulfate, each ton of sulfur dioxide in the flue gas reflects a value of about 400 yuan. Therefore, the relative operating costs are relatively low, and the higher the sulfur content in coal, the lower the operating costs. Enterprises can utilize low-priced high sulfur coal while significantly reducing fuel costs and desulfurization expenses, killing two birds with one stone.
3. The device has low resistance, saving operating power consumption
By utilizing the high activity of ammonia desulfurization, the liquid and gas desulfurization can be reduced compared to conventional wet desulfurization techniques. The resistance of the desulfurization tower is only about 850Pa, and the total resistance of the desulfurization island including the flue without heating device is about 1000Pa; The total design resistance of the desulfurization island when equipped with a steam heater is only about 1250Pa. Therefore, the ammonia desulfurization device can utilize the potential of the original boiler induced draft fan, and most of them do not require a new booster fan; Even if the original fan has no potential, it can still be appropriately modified or equipped with a fan with a small pressure head. The system resistance saves more than 50% of electricity compared to conventional desulfurization technology. In addition, the power consumption of the circulation pump has been reduced by nearly 70%.
4. Advanced anti-corrosion and reliable operation
The ammonia recovery method adopts advanced heavy anti-corrosion technology from abroad and selects reliable materials and equipment, with a device reliability of 98.5%. Both desulfurizer and desulfurization products are soluble substances, and the desulfurization solution in the device is a clear solution without scale or wear. It is easier to achieve automatic control such as PLC and DCS, and the operation and control are simple and easy to implement.
5. The device equipment occupies a small area, making it easy to renovate old boilers
The ammonia recovery desulfurization device does not require a raw material pretreatment process, and the production process of by-products is relatively simple. The total equipment configuration is about 30 sets, and the processing capacity is relatively small. The equipment selection does not need to be too large. The equipment footprint of the desulfurization section is related to the size of the boiler, with boilers ranging from 75t/h to 1000t/h occupying an area of approximately 150m2-500m2; The land occupation of the desulfurization solution treatment, namely the ammonium sulfate process, is related to the sulfur content of the boiler, but the correlation coefficient is not significant. The entire ammonium sulfate process normally occupies less than 500m2.
