Boiler antifreeze refers to various types of boiler equipment that use boiler antifreeze, including hot water, steam, heating boilers, etc. Whether for industrial or civilian use, as long as there is a risk of freezing in low-temperature environments, boiler antifreeze can be used to ensure the normal operation of the system, avoiding equipment damage and safety accidents caused by freezing. Due to different working environments and requirements, the composition of antifreeze varies in different boiler systems. It is also necessary to dilute it proportionally during use, and pay attention to key points such as replacement cycles and compatibility.

Antifreeze performance

Freezing point range: The freezing point of conventional antifreeze can drop to -38 ℃ (50% ethylene glycol ratio), while some products (such as Haobei antifreeze) still maintain fluidity in an environment of -45 ℃. ‌

Applicable scenarios: Suitable for boilers, underfloor heating systems, etc. in high-altitude northern regions, to prevent pipeline freezing and equipment damage.

The function of antifreeze

1: The anti-corrosion engine and its cooling system are made of metal, including copper, iron, aluminum, steel, and solder. These metals will corrode and rust over time when in contact with water at high temperatures. Antifreeze not only does not cause corrosion to the engine cooling system, but also has anti-corrosion and rust removal functions.

2: The boiling point of high boiling water is 100 ℃, while the boiling point of high-quality antifreeze coolant is usually 110 ℃ above zero. Therefore, when used in summer, antifreeze coolant is more difficult to boil than water.

3: The problem that causes headaches for drivers when using anti scaling water as a coolant is scale buildup. Scale adheres to the metal surfaces of the water tank and water jacket, making the heat dissipation effect worse and more difficult to remove. High quality antifreeze is made of distilled water and added with anti scaling additives, which not only does not produce scale but also has descaling function.

Select antifreeze type

Aluminum alloy boiler: Prioritize the use of silicate antifreeze to avoid corrosion.

Cast iron boiler: Corrosion inhibitor needs to be added and the pH value needs to be adjusted to 8-9.

Freezing point selection: The freezing point of antifreeze should be 5-10 ℃ lower than the local historical lowest temperature.

1. Preparation before refueling

Emptying and cleaning: Fully empty the original liquid, clean the pipes and boiler interior, and avoid residual impurities.

System check: Confirm whether the pipeline material is compatible with antifreeze (if not designed for antifreeze, it needs to be cleaned first).

2. Filling steps

Proportional control: Add antifreeze to 30% -50% of the boiler volume, and then add water to adjust the concentration to the target freezing point.

Eliminate bubbles: Use exhaust valves or pumps to pump out internal bubbles to ensure anti freezing effect.

Concentration testing: Use a refractometer or densitometer to measure the concentration of the mixture, and start the boiler after reaching the standard.

Precautions for use

Avoid mixing: Different brands of antifreeze should not be mixed to avoid reducing their anti-corrosion performance. ‌

Regular maintenance: Replace the antifreeze every 1-2 years, and replace it promptly if the pH value is below 5.5. ‌

Safe operation: Ethylene glycol is toxic, protective equipment should be worn during operation, and waste liquid should be professionally treated. ‌

Common problem handling

Abnormal density: If the density decreases, supplement with concentrated solution of the same brand; If it rises, add distilled water to adjust. ‌

Leakage inspection: Tighten the seal after adding to prevent leakage caused by rubber component retraction. ‌
