1. Overview
CW230 is a segmented high-performance stepper motor driver using specialized technology, suitable for driving two-phase and four phase hybrid stepper motors below 3A, such as 57BYG and 42BYG. Due to the adoption of a new bipolar constant current chopper drive technology, the same motor can output higher speed and power than other drive methods. The subdivision function of CW230 improves the operating accuracy of stepper motors by 1-64 times. A chopping frequency of 20000 times per second can eliminate chopping noise in the driver. Another unique feature is static automatic current reduction: when the motor is in a stopped state, the output current can automatically decrease to a lower value, thereby reducing the heating of the motor and driver.
Its working current range is 0.9A-3A, with 16 output current levels and a current resolution of approximately 0.5A. It has protection functions such as automatic half current, self check, overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent. This driver is powered by DC and is recommended to operate within a voltage range of 18VDC-40VDC.

3. Main application areas
Suitable for various small and medium-sized automation equipment and instruments, such as pneumatic marking machines, labeling machines, cutting machines, laser marking machines, plotters, small engraving machines, CNC machine tools, handling devices, etc. The application effect is particularly good in devices where users expect low vibration, low cost, low noise, high precision, and high speed.

If the upper control computer does not send a step signal for half a second, the driver will automatically enter a power-saving half current state, and the phase current of the motor winding will be reduced to half of the set value. In this state, the power consumption of the motor and driver is reduced, but the output torque of the motor is also correspondingly reduced. Automatically restore the rated output current when the next pulse arrives.

Detailed description of signal interface: The interface circuit inside the CW230 stepper motor driver adopts optocoupler signal isolation, and R in the figure is an external current limiting resistor. The connection method is differential connection, with good anti-interference performance.





The external dimensions of the driver are 100 × 59 × 19mm, as shown in the external dimension diagram. Pay attention to leaving more than 10CM of space for heat dissipation. During installation, it should be tightly attached to the metal cabinet to facilitate heat dissipation.
