Temperature sensing probes are everywhere, ensuring the safe operation of equipment and temperature control of the environment. This article will delve into the working principle of temperature sensing probes and their applications in different fields.

The working principle of the temperature sensing probe is mainly based on the thermoelectric effect. Thermoelectric effect refers to the potential difference that occurs when two different metals come into contact at different temperatures. This is due to the different electronic motion characteristics of different metals, which causes electrons to shift in the metal when a temperature gradient is generated, resulting in changes in charge distribution and potential difference. A temperature sensing probe is usually composed of two wires of different metals connected together. When one end of the probe is exposed to the environment to be measured, temperature changes will cause a change in the temperature of the wires at that end, resulting in a potential difference. This potential difference can be connected to a measuring instrument through wires for accurate temperature measurement.


In order to improve measurement accuracy, temperature sensing probes usually use cold end compensation. Cold end compensation refers to setting a reference temperature point at the cold end of a temperature sensing probe to maintain it constant. In this way, the influence of environmental temperature on measurement results can be reduced, making the measurement results more accurate. This compensation mechanism ensures that the temperature sensing probe can provide reliable measurement data at different ambient temperatures.


The role of temperature sensing probes is particularly crucial in water heaters. The gas water heater monitors the inlet water temperature in real time through a temperature sensing probe, which is a key component for achieving constant temperature. Common temperature probe configurations include single point temperature measurement, two-point temperature measurement, and three-point temperature measurement. Single point temperature measurement is the most basic configuration, with only one temperature sensor at the outlet, which cannot accurately monitor changes in the inlet water temperature. Two point temperature measurement is equipped with a temperature sensing probe at each inlet and outlet, which can monitor and adjust the outlet temperature in real time, but cannot cope with the problem of water stoppage and temperature rise. The three-point temperature measurement technology achieves more accurate temperature control by installing a temperature sensing probe at each of the inlet, outlet, and outlet of the heat exchanger. It can maintain a constant temperature even after water supply is stopped. This high-precision temperature control technology ensures that the water heater can provide stable water temperature in different usage scenarios, greatly improving user comfort.
