Function and Application of Cyclone Desander


Cyclone sand removal technology is widely used in liquid-solid separation in many industries such as chemical, environmental protection, medicine, food, etc. Practice has proven that the cyclone sand remover is an economical, effective, easy to operate, maintenance free, one-time investment, and non energy consuming green and environmentally friendly pure physical water treatment equipment.


This product is our company's second-generation product, which integrates cyclone and filtration. Our company uses advanced technology for production, mainly used to remove solid particles from groundwater, including underground hot water and other water sources. It is suitable for water source heat pump systems, central air conditioning circulating cooling water, chilled water systems, winter cooling and heating circulating water systems, industrial cooling circulating water systems, etc.

Structure and Principle of Cyclone Desander Equipment


The YD series cyclone sand remover has been further innovated based on years of practice in accordance with the standardized atlas standards of the Ministry of Construction, resulting in a more ideal sand removal effect. According to the principles of centrifugal settling and density difference, when water flows tangentially into the equipment from the inlet of the desander under a certain pressure, strong rotational motion will be generated. Due to the different densities of sand and water, under the action of centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy, and fluid drag, low-density clean water will rise and be discharged through the overflow port, while high-density sand will settle to the bottom and be discharged through the sand discharge port, thus achieving the purpose of desanding. Within a certain range and conditions, the higher the inlet pressure of the desander, the higher the desanding rate, and multiple units can be used in parallel.


The sand remover can be combined with multiple units to meet any flow requirements, with a pressure loss of 0.005~0.13 MPa. For particles with a diameter greater than 50 μ m, the separation effect can reach 94-96%. The desander can also be combined with a disc filter unit in the same device to treat high turbidity water and directly supply it to the system for use.


Operation instructions for cyclone sand remover:


① During normal operation, it is necessary to open the inlet and outlet valves and close the drain valve;

② When the sand in the storage tank reaches a certain height, it should be drained. Open the drain valve when discharging to ensure that clear water flows out;

③ After the discharge is completed, simply close the discharge valve

④ If the sand discharge pressure is insufficient, the valve at the outlet can be closed.

Precautions for installation and use of cyclone sand remover

1. The cyclone sand remover should be installed on the main pipeline of the water supply network and fixed on the base, with a bypass between the inlet and outlet pipes.

2. To ensure a smooth inflow of water, a straight pipe with the same diameter as the inlet should be installed before the equipment inlet, with a length equivalent to 10-15 times the diameter of the inlet.

3. Sufficient maintenance space should be reserved around the equipment during installation.

4. During normal operation, it is necessary to open the inlet and outlet valves, close the drain valve and bypass valve.

5. Regularly discharge sand and remove dirt based on the sand content of the source water. When discharging, open the discharge valve until clear water flows out. The discharge process does not affect the normal water use of the system.

6. After the discharge is completed, close the discharge valve.

7. If the sand discharge pressure is insufficient, the valve at the outlet should be closed.
