The causes of residual stress can be divided into external factors caused by external forces and internal factors caused by uneven internal organizational structure of the object
1. Uneven deformation refers to the condition under which uneven plastic deformation occurs. External reasons; Uneven applied stress, such as bending, rolling, and drawing. Internal reasons; Due to differences in concentration or orientation of grains within different parts of an object, each part exhibits different yielding behaviors.
2. The function of heat
(1) Plastic deformation caused by thermal stress; When thermal stress is generated during the heating and cooling process, plastic deformation is prone to occur due to the low yield strength at high temperatures.
External reasons: The elastic modulus, thermal conductivity, and thermal expansion coefficient of different parts of the object are different, and their temperatures are also different
(2) Volume change caused by phase transition or precipitation precipitation
External reasons; During cooling, the cooling of each part is uneven and the cooling rate is also different. Therefore, when there is a part where the phase transition has ended and a part where the phase transition has not yet occurred, the difference in volume change between the two becomes apparent. Internal reasons: When there is a concentration difference with organizational structure, the degree of volume change caused by solid-phase transformation and precipitation is also different.
