For some exhaust gases with complex components, low-temperature plasma is an electron that obtains energy from an external electric field and becomes high-energy electrons. These high-energy electrons have a fast velocity and, when in contact with pollutants, transfer their own energy to the pollutants through inelastic collisions, converting it into the internal energy or kinetic energy of pollutant molecules. These molecules that obtain energy are excited or ionized to form active groups. On the one hand, these active genes react chemically with pollutant molecules, ultimately generating CO2 and H02. On the other hand, when the energy obtained by pollutant molecules exceeds their own binding energy, the molecular bonds of pollutant molecules break and decompose into harmless gases or elemental atoms. Activated carbon, due to the presence of unbalanced and unsaturated molecular attraction or chemical bonding forces on the solid surface, can attract gas molecules when the solid surface comes into contact with them, causing them to concentrate and remain on the solid surface. This phenomenon is called adsorption. By utilizing the adsorption capacity of solid surfaces, the exhaust gas comes into contact with porous solid substances on a large surface, and pollutants in the exhaust gas are adsorbed on the solid surface, separating them from the gas mixture and achieving the purpose of purification.
