According to relevant statistical data, in recent years, the number of power plant auxiliary equipment such as coal mills, air supply fans, induced draft fans, boiler feed pumps, and high-pressure heaters that are used in conjunction with power generation equipment has been increasing year by year. In terms of value, the main engine and auxiliary engine each account for half of the equipment investment, indicating that the auxiliary engine of the power station occupies a considerable position.

The domestic power plant auxiliary equipment industry has gone through three stages of development, mainly represented by large auxiliary equipment. In the 1980s, thermal power construction mainly relied on 200000 kilowatt units as the main models, with imported main auxiliary equipment. In the 1990s, thermal power construction basically began with 300000 kilowatt units as the main model, introducing and digesting foreign technology, and entering the stage of domestication of auxiliary equipment. In the 21st century, thermal power construction mainly relies on 300000 and 600000 kilowatt units as the main models, and auxiliary equipment enterprises begin to rely on foreign technology as support and participate in market competition through joint ventures. A series of changes have also created good opportunities for supporting auxiliary equipment. Power plant auxiliary equipment production enterprises mainly have the following opportunities:

1. With the rapid development of China's power construction, large capacity and high parameter generator sets are becoming increasingly popular. New technologies and energy are gradually being promoted and utilized, and efficient and environmentally friendly new units are also emerging. China's power construction has developed rapidly. As of the end of 2006, the country's installed power generation capacity reached 662GW, of which 484.05GW was thermal power, accounting for 77.82%; 128.57GW of hydropower, accounting for 20.67%; Nuclear power and others account for 1.51%. It is predicted that the installed power generation capacity in China will exceed 840GW in 2010.

The popularity of large capacity and high parameter units, especially million level units, has increased, resulting in a sharp decrease in the number of supporting units. The single machine capacity of auxiliary equipment has also increased, and new equipment supporting them continues to emerge. In the main auxiliary equipment, fan equipment such as primary fans, pump equipment such as feedwater pumps, condensate pumps, circulating water pumps, various heat exchanger equipment, and main transformers and plant transformers in electrical supporting equipment have all increased their capacity due to the enlargement of the main unit. And equipment such as boiler water circulation pumps need to be increased in quantity. In addition, some auxiliary machines in the million kilowatt level units have not yet been developed in China, which brings both challenges and opportunities to domestic auxiliary machine manufacturers.

2. In order to achieve energy-saving goals, power plants increasingly use hydraulic couplings and frequency modulation motors, such as fans, feedwater pumps, condensate pumps, slurry pumps, etc. Pneumatic feedwater pumps are also used instead of electric feedwater pumps, and bag filters are used instead of electrostatic precipitators. In addition, in the ash and slag removal system, a large number of dry ash and slag removal equipment are used instead of hydraulic equipment, and energy-saving high-voltage power supply devices are used in electrostatic precipitators. The power plant also extensively uses effect devices, sound insulation devices, and suction devices. Especially for gas combined cycle units, the air inlet adopts a silencing device, and the walls of the main plant are made of small hole suction materials, which basically meet the national noise emission standards. The sound insulation wall scheme for waste heat boilers and cooling water towers, which could only be seen abroad, has also been applied in domestic power plants.

3. The power plant also needs to adapt to the group's networked management needs and establish a digital power plant. This requires standardized management of main and auxiliary equipment, establishment of power plant computer models and databases. Therefore, how to accelerate technological progress and meet the needs of digital power plant construction and process system control is also an important issue that domestic auxiliary equipment factories should consider.

The development of electricity has achieved great success so far, and high parameters and large capacity have become the trend of ending development. Auxiliary equipment must adapt to the needs of large capacity units, meet the supporting requirements of different forms of power generation, and also meet environmental protection requirements, especially to adapt to the management requirements of major power generation groups after the reform of the power system.
