A cooling tower refers to a device that can cool water. Water undergoes heat and mass exchange with the flowing air, resulting in a decrease in water temperature.
Open cooling tower is a device that utilizes the contact between water and air to dissipate waste heat generated in industry or refrigeration and air conditioning through evaporation. The basic principle is that dry (low enthalpy) air is drawn by a fan and enters the cooling tower through the air inlet network; High temperature water molecules with high partial pressure of saturated steam flow towards low-pressure air, while hot and humid (high enthalpy) water is sprayed into the tower by the self seeding water system. When water droplets come into contact with air, on the one hand, due to the direct heat transfer between air and water, and on the other hand, due to the pressure difference between the surface of water vapor and air, evaporation occurs under the action of pressure. That is, the sensible heat of water is carried away by heat transfer with unsaturated dry air, and some of the latent heat in water is taken away by water evaporation, thus achieving the goal of cooling the cooling water.
A closed cooling tower utilizes the contact between water and coils to transfer heat through the tube wall and heat to the cooling medium inside the coils, achieving the cooling goal. The circulating water in a closed cooling tower only circulates inside the tower, exchanges heat with air for cooling, and then comes into contact with the coils to take away the heat of the working fluid inside the coils. The water replenishment pipe is appropriately replenished. Compared with an open cooling tower, the most obvious feature of a closed cooling tower is the addition of coils. The liquid working fluid that needs to be cooled flows inside the steel coils without direct contact with water, and exchanges heat through the tube walls.
Scope of application:
The waste heat generated in industrial production or refrigeration processes is generally guided away by cooling water. The function of a cooling tower is to exchange heat between the cooling water carrying waste heat and the air inside the tower, transferring the waste heat to the air and dissipating it into the atmosphere. For example, in a thermal power plant, the boiler heats water into high-temperature and high-pressure steam, which drives the steam turbine to generate electricity. The waste steam generated by the steam turbine is discharged into the condenser, where it exchanges heat with the cooling water and condenses into water, which is then pumped back to the boiler for recycling. During this process, the waste heat from the exhaust steam is transferred to the cooling water, causing the water temperature to rise. The cooling water carrying the waste heat transfers heat to the air in the cooling tower and is discharged into the atmosphere through the air duct. The application scope of cooling towers: mainly used in air conditioning cooling systems, refrigeration series, injection molding, leather making, foaming, power generation, steam turbines, aluminum profile processing, air compressors, industrial water cooling and other fields. The most commonly used industries are air conditioning cooling, refrigeration, and plastic chemical industry.
