Five essential knowledge about TBI linear guide slider that you cannot ignore
According to the contact tooth profile of the ball between the linear guide and the slider, the linear guide pair is classified into Gothic type tooth profile and circular arc tooth profile. Gothic type is also known as two column type, and circular arc type is also known as four column type. Usually, the selection of linear guide pairs must be based on usage conditions, load capacity, and expected lifespan. However, due to the significant variability in the lifespan of linear guides, in order to facilitate the selection of linear guide pairs, it is necessary to first understand the following important concepts.
1. Basic static rated load (Co) of linear guide rail: The so-called basic static rated load refers to the static load when the total permanent deformation of the steel ball and the raceway surface at the contact surface subjected to the maximum stress is exactly one ten thousandth of the diameter of the steel ball under equal load direction and magnitude. Due to the increasingly high precision requirements in mechanical processing, the classification of precision levels for important components such as linear guides in machining machinery is becoming finer and finer.
2. Basic dynamic rated load of linear guide rail (C): The so-called basic dynamic rated load refers to the maximum load at which 90% of the rolling surface of a batch of linear guide rail pairs of the same specifications does not experience fatigue damage (peeling or pitting) after running for 50km in the same load direction and size.
3. Accuracy level of linear guide rail: Generally, the accuracy of linear guide rail pairs is divided into five types: ordinary level, advanced level, precision level, ultra precision level, and ultra high precision level. There are generally three main testing indicators, one is the parallelism between slider C and slide rail A, the other is the parallelism between slider D and slide rail B, and the third is the parallelism of walking. The so-called walking parallelism refers to the parallelism error between the guide rail and the slider reference plane when the linear guide rail is fixed on the reference seat plane and the slider moves along the stroke.
4. Pre pressure of linear guide rail: The so-called pre pressure is to apply a load force to the steel ball in advance, and use the negative gap between the steel ball and the track to apply pre pressure, which can improve the rigidity of the linear guide rail and eliminate the gap. According to the magnitude of pre pressure, it can be divided into different pre pressure levels. The pre pressure ranges from a gap to 0.13C. The C value is the dynamic rated load. During the selection process, you can return to the previous steps for re selection and setting based on the calculation results at any time. When calculating the maximum load of the slider, it is necessary to confirm that the static safety factor of the selected linear guide should exceed the values listed in the recommended table. If the selected linear guide pair lacks rigidity, the preload can be increased, the selected size can be increased, or the number of sliders can be increased to improve rigidity. The static safety factor is defined as the ratio of the static rated load to the working load. It is worth mentioning that the two column Gothic style linear guide pair can withstand forces and moments in all directions, and is more commonly used in light or medium load applications, especially when there is a large lateral force load. The linear guide with a four column circular arc structure is more commonly used in heavy or overloaded applications, and the circular arc has the ability to absorb assembly surface errors. But if there is an impact load, it is advisable to use Goethe type linear guide pairs.
5. Rated life of linear guide rail: The so-called rated life refers to the running distance achieved by a batch of the same products under the same conditions and rated load, with 90% of them having no surface peeling phenomenon. The rated service life of the linear guide pair using steel balls as rolling elements is 50km under basic dynamic rated load
