FFU (Fan Filter Unit) is a combination of a fan and a filter, also known as a "built-in fan filter device".
FFU is usually installed at the end of the clean room's air supply, and is usually placed on a suspended "dry" gasket sealing keel frame.
The upper part of FFU is the fan module, and the lower part is the filter. According to the requirements of cleanliness, the filter can be a high-efficiency (HEPA) or ultra high efficiency (ULPA) filter of different grades, providing clean air for the cleanroom.
The fan module not only needs to overcome the resistance of the high-efficiency filter at the bottom of the FFU, but also needs to overcome the resistance of all channel components of the entire circulating air to maintain the set operating wind speed. The FFU system has the characteristics of simple design and construction, flexible wind speed adjustment, and easy change of clean areas, making it one of the popular system forms in industrial cleanrooms.
FFU has the following characteristics:
*Flexibility.Because FFU is self powered, it is not limited by region. In a large clean room, zoning control can be implemented as needed. Moreover, with the changes in semiconductor production processes, the layout of the factory must be adjusted accordingly. The flexibility of FFU makes such adjustments easy and does not bring about secondary investment.
Secondly, reusability.In theory, FFU devices that are temporarily unused can be disassembled, sealed, and properly stored for future use.
Thirdly, negative pressure ventilation.This is the unique feature of FFU. Due to its ability to provide static pressure, the supply air static pressure box is under negative pressure relative to the cleanroom. In this way, the particles inside the static pressure box will not leak into the clean area under pressure, making the sealing simple and safe.
Fourthly, shorten the construction period.The use of FFU eliminates the need for the production and installation of air ducts, as they occupy a significant portion of the construction period in clean engineering. Any investor hopes that their investment can bring in returns as soon as possible, and choosing FFU has become a possibility.
Fifth: Reduce operating costs.Although the initial investment when choosing FFU is higher than using duct ventilation, it exhibits outstanding features such as energy saving and maintenance free operation in the later stage. Used to reduce operating costs by 40% in cycles.
Key performance parameters of FFU combination:
Ceiling Modular Size:The spacing between the centerlines of the suspended ceiling keel is 1200X600 (4'X2 '), 1200X900 (4'X3'), and 1200X1200 (4'X4 '), which are commonly used standard module sizes for FFU installation.
Actual size: Xiamen GeelyThe actual size of the FFU filter is equal to the module size minus (keel section width minus 25mm). The actual size of the fan module is slightly larger than the filter by 4mm. For example, the commonly used ceiling keel end face width is 55mm, and the module size of 1200900600 corresponds to the actual size of the FFU filter being 1170870570 and the actual size of the fan module being 1174874574.
External residual pressure (ESP):At a certain set wind speed, the total static pressure (TSP) of the fan module minus the resistance of the HEPA/ULPA filter is the external residual pressure (ESP), measured in Pa. ESP refers to the ability of the FFU to overcome the circulating air resistance in the clean room. Whether labeling the external residual pressure of the FFU or the total static pressure TSP of the fan module, the supply air speed or volume must be specified, otherwise it is meaningless.
Input power consumption:The product of input voltage and input current during normal operation of FFU, in units of W. Obviously, the input energy consumption of FFU varies at different operating conditions, that is, at different operating air volumes and total static pressures. Therefore, if the operating condition point is not specified, inputting energy consumption values is meaningless.
Individual noise level:According to standard IES-RP-CC002, the noise level of FFU during normal operation is measured in dB (A) at a distance of 1.2mm directly below the center of the air outlet surface. FFU produces different levels of noise at different operating conditions, i.e. at different operating air volumes and total static pressures. Therefore, if the operating condition point is not specified, the noise value is meaningless.
Micro vibration:According to the standard IES-RP-CC002, the vibration amplitude and vibration rate of FFU at * high operating conditions are measured in mm and mm/s, respectively.
Air uniformity:According to standard IES-RP-CC002, during normal operation of the FFU, measure the wind speed point by point on a horizontal plane 150mm (6 ") above the outlet surface to obtain the average wind speed value. The deviation ratio between the average wind speed and the maximum and minimum wind speeds is the uniformity of air supply, measured in+/-%. The standard IES-RP-CC002 requires that the deviation between the supply air speed at any point of the FFU and its average air speed should be within+/-20%.
Filter grade:According to the European standard EN1822, the filter grades are H10-H14, U15-U17. Or according to the American standard MIL-282 (HEPA), for an efficiency value of 0.3um; According to the US standard IES-RP-CC007.1, for an efficiency value of 0.12um.

Flexible control methods:The AC type can adopt a single independent speed controller or a grouped variable voltage speed controller, and also has an alarm indication function.

FFU centralized monitoring system
FFU, as a purification device, is widely used in various clean engineering projects. The FFU centralized monitoring system connects dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of FFUs through the FFU monitoring host and monitors them, which can be uploaded to a computer for convenient functions such as fan partition start stop, fault alarm, and historical recording. When the computer is turned off, the monitoring host can independently perform 24-hour monitoring.
Due to the fact that this system is designed for situations where FFU power is small but the number of units is large, computer centralized monitoring is adopted for easy operation. The system includes the following four parts:
