Therefore, we should focus on the following aspects of work.
Avoid short circuits
The water flow entering the sedimentation tank usually stays in the tank for different periods of time, and some of the water stays for less than the design retention time and flows out quickly.
Outside the pool: The other part has a residence time greater than the design residence time, and this phenomenon of different residence times is called short flow.
Short flow shortens the residence time of some water, preventing sufficient precipitation and reducing precipitation efficiency; The retention time of the other part of the water may be very long, and there may even be stagnant water areas where the water flow is basically stagnant, reducing the effective volume of the sedimentation tank.
In short, short flow is one of the main reasons affecting the effluent quality of sedimentation tanks.
There are many reasons for the formation of short flow phenomenon, such as the high flow velocity entering the sedimentation tank; The unit length flow rate of the outflow weir is too high; The distance between the inlet and outlet areas of the sedimentation tank is too close; The water surface of the sedimentation tank is affected by strong winds; The change in water temperature caused by sunlight exposure in the pool water; The density difference between inflow and pool water; And the columns, guide walls, and mud scraping facilities present in the sedimentation tank can all form a short flow image.
Add coagulant
When the sedimentation tank is used for liquid-solid separation in the coagulation process, the correct addition of coagulant is one of the key factors in the operation and management of the sedimentation tank. To achieve correct addition of coagulants, it is necessary to grasp the changes in inlet water quality and quantity.
Taking drinking water purification as an example, it is generally required to measure the turbidity, pH value, water temperature, and alkalinity of the raw water every 2-4 hours.
In seasons with frequent water quality, it is required to conduct a measurement every 1-2 hours to understand the on-off status of the inlet pump room and adjust the dosage in a timely manner according to changes in water quality and quantity.
Special attention should be paid to preventing medication breakage accidents, as even if medication is stopped for a short period of time, it can lead to deterioration of the effluent quality.
Timely discharge of mud
Timely sludge discharge is an extremely important task in the operation and management of sedimentation tanks.
The sedimentation tank in sewage treatment contains a large amount of sludge, most of which is organic matter. If the sludge is not discharged in time, anaerobic fermentation will occur, causing the sludge to float up. This not only destroys the normal operation of the sedimentation tank, but also deteriorates the water quality, such as an increase in dissolved BOD value in the effluent; Decreased pH value, etc. The discharge cycle of the initial sedimentation tank should generally not exceed 2 days, and the discharge cycle of the secondary sedimentation tank should generally not exceed 2 hours. When the sludge is not completely discharged, the tank should be stopped (emptied) and manually washed to clean the sludge. The sedimentation tank for mechanical sludge discharge should strengthen the maintenance and management of the sludge discharge equipment. Once the mechanical sludge discharge equipment malfunctions, it should be repaired in a timely manner to avoid excessive sludge accumulation at the bottom of the tank, which affects the quality of the effluent water.
