The HPLC sample prepared with PTFE membrane is very stable. The hydrophobicity of the membrane allows it to also be used for air and gas sterilization. PTFE is suitable for highly corrosive organic solvents, aqueous solutions, and gases, and can withstand most acids, bases, and solutions.

The WTP type uses grid like polypropylene as the support material, while the TE type uses disordered polypropylene material as the support.

WhatmanPTFE membrane is an ideal particle filter membrane or filter membrane for gas automatic online monitoring devices due to its good hydrophobicity and high loading capacity. Typically, a 5 μ m pore size PTFE membrane (TE38) is used for peripheral protection of the monitoring system; PTFE membrane is also used to filter corrosive agents, organic solvents, and strongly oxidizing solutions. To prepare liquid samples before HPLC or IC, external particles can be avoided from entering and damaging the chromatographic column. Generally, 0.2um and 0.5 μ pore sizes are used; The air and gas in the online biological fermentation tank need to be filtered with PTFE membrane to block gaseous water and remove potential bacterial contamination. Usually, a pore size of 0.2 μ m-0.5 μ m is used, and for online sterilization applications, a pore size of 0.2 μ m must be used.
