The refrigeration principle of a chiller unit is that the compressor sucks in low-pressure and low-temperature refrigerant vapor from the evaporator, which is adiabatically compressed by the compressor and called high-pressure superheated vapor. It is then pressed into the condenser for constant pressure cooling and releases heat to the cooling medium, and then cooled into subcooled liquid refrigerant. The liquid refrigerant is adiabatically throttled by the expansion valve and called low-pressure liquid refrigerant. It evaporates and absorbs heat from the air conditioning circulating water in the evaporator, thereby cooling the air conditioning circulating water to achieve the purpose of refrigeration. It is then sucked back into the compressor again and works in this cycle.

The accumulation of a large amount of scale, dirt, and biological sludge on the inner wall of the condenser tube reduces the heat transfer efficiency of the condenser. The traditional methods for treating condenser tube fouling are chemical water treatment and periodic manual mechanical brushing. However, chemical water treatment cannot solve the problems of fouling, mud deposition, bacterial and algal growth, and rust formation. Therefore, regular mechanical brushing is required as an auxiliary measure. Traditional processing methods are time-consuming and labor-intensive. Nowadays, online cleaning devices for condensers replace regular mechanical brushes, keeping the condenser tubes in a clean state at all times.

The ball catcher sends the rubber balls into the condenser, and the rubber balls rely on the high flow rate of cooling water to wipe away the dirt on the inner wall of the heat exchange copper tube of the condenser. At the outlet end of the cooling water, the rubber balls are recovered by the ball water separator and returned to the ball catcher through the collection tube to form a cleaning cycle. By setting the cleaning frequency through the Siemens PLC intelligent control box, the automatic online cleaning function is achieved, which always maintains the cleanliness of the condenser inner wall, heat exchange efficiency, and refrigeration efficiency of the chiller unit.

Components of condenser online cleaning device:

1. Ball gathering and driving device

The ball collection and driving device is a device used in the automatic cleaning system for rubber balls to load, drive, and observe the operation of the rubber balls. It mainly consists of a shell, a top cover, a ball collecting hopper, a switching valve, inlet and outlet pipes, and a one-way valve. Install glass observation windows and exhaust valves on the top cover, and install a drain valve at the bottom of the casing. The design of the ball collecting and driving device has sufficient volume to ensure that the rubber ball has space for rotation inside the ball collecting and driving device. The ball hopper, switching valve, and one-way valve are all made of 304 stainless steel. Due to the design of a one-way valve device in the ball collection and driving device, the original electric door is eliminated, which not only simplifies the rubber ball cleaning system and operation, but also facilitates automatic control and improves the reliability of operation.

2. Ball water separator

The ball water separator is one of the key components of the condenser during the rubber ball cleaning process. To maintain continuous cleaning of the condenser tube by the rubber ball, it is necessary to feed the rubber ball * into the cleaning system, and then promptly recycle the rubber ball that has been cleaned through the cooling tube for cleaning purposes again. The ball water separator is used to collect all the rubber balls dispersed in the cooling water for reuse, so the ball collection rate of the ball water separator is very important. The mesh plate of the ball water separator is made of 304 stainless steel material, which is corrosion-resistant, impact resistant, and aging resistant.

3. Rubber ball pump and rubber ball

The commonly used types of rubber balls are standard peeled rubber balls, regular rubber balls, and diamond sand rubber balls.

(1) Standard peeling rubber ball

Standard stripped rubber balls are particularly suitable for various condenser copper tubes, and are also a commonly used type of rubber ball in power plants. Rubber balls are made from natural rubber with foam and special additives. Standard peeling rubber balls can be used for various rubber ball cleaning equipment and water quality.

Peel rubber balls effectively remove biofouling and highly viscous biofouling. Suitable for stainless steel and titanium alloy tube heat exchangers.

(2) Ordinary rubber ball

Ordinary rubber balls have a smooth surface and are mainly used to make standard peeled rubber balls after re peeling and grinding. Some power plants order smooth rubber balls because there is no hard deposition in the pipeline, and they are generally used for stainless steel pipes. But the effect on the use of copper pipes is not good.

Mainly used to remove soft dirt, suitable for cooling water applications such as sludge, sticky mud, and sand Suitable for copper tube heat exchangers.

(3) Diamond sand ball

Diamond sand balls are divided into two types: full diamond sand balls and semi diamond sand balls. Diamond sand ball is suitable for removing various types of scaling and deposits from pipelines, but it can cause damage to the pipes. It is generally not used for a long time, especially for copper pipes, which should be used with caution. Effectively remove hard scale, such as calcium carbonate. Suitable for steel and stainless steel tube heat exchangers.
