The source of odor in landfill sites
The annual amount of urban household waste cleared in China is about 140 million tons. Except for a small portion that is incinerated, composted or recycled, more than 70% is transported to landfills for disposal. In landfills, the foul odors generated during the decay and stabilization process of garbage cause significant pollution to the landfill and surrounding environment, affecting the physical health of workers and residents. Effective control of odor pollution in landfills has become an important aspect of comprehensive waste management.
Generally speaking, the composition and hazards of odorous gases in urban solid waste landfills can be divided into five categories based on their composition:
① Sulfur containing compounds such as H2S, SO2, thiols, etc;
② Nitrogen-containing compounds such as ammonia, amines, indoles, etc;
③ Halogens and derivatives, such as chlorine gas, halogenated hydrocarbons, etc;
④ Hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons;
⑤ Organic compounds containing oxygen, such as alcohols, phenols, aldehydes, ketones, etc;
Odorous gases can be produced under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions, but the main odorants come from the anaerobic fermentation process of organic matter. In the process of utilizing organic matter as nutrients in landfills, microorganisms in the garbage will produce some odorous gaseous metabolites or intermediates, including fatty acids, amines, aromatic compounds, inorganic sulfur, organic sulfur, as well as terpenoids and other volatile organic compounds.
Due to the fact that the odor emitted from landfills is generated by anaerobic fermentation of perishable substances in the landfill waste, and the anaerobic fermentation process is closely related to the contact mode, contact time, and environmental temperature, the changes in the composition of the odor emitted from landfills are closely related to these factors. In Tianjin's landfill sites, the odor components generated by long-term landfilling of garbage are greater than those generated by natural stacking of garbage, and the odor components generated by natural stacking of garbage are greater than those generated by compaction. The odor concentration of landfill waste in summer is higher than that in autumn and winter seasons.
The causes and influencing factors of H2S production in northern plain landfill sites indicate that H2S is mainly released in the landfill area. Therefore, controlling the annual landfill height of fresh garbage is the key to controlling the seasonal changes and peak values of H2S quality concentration. Odor is a widespread public hazard that has multiple harmful effects on the human body. Odor can cause the body to reflexively inhibit inhalation, hindering normal respiratory function; The nervous system is stimulated by low concentration odors for a long time, causing loss of smell and subsequently leading to dysfunction in the regulation of excitation and inhibition in the cerebral cortex. Odorous components such as H2S directly poison the nervous system; Ammonia and other irritating odors cause blood pressure to first decrease and then increase, and pulse to first slow and then increase. H2S affects the transport of oxygen in the human body, causing hypoxia and interfering with the circulatory system; Odor can cause loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting, which may lead to decreased digestive system function and endocrine system disorders, affecting the body's metabolic activity. In addition, ammonia and aldehydes have strong irritant effects on the eyes.
Biological treatment technology for odor in landfill sites
Various odor control technologies and methods use physical, chemical, and biological processes to change the phase or structure of odor pollutants, thereby achieving the goal of removing odors. The methods for treating odorous substances can vary depending on the nature, type, concentration, treatment capacity, gas emission methods, local hygiene requirements, and economic conditions of the odorous pollutants, and different treatment methods can be adopted.
The wet spray deodorization equipment is an advanced technical product specially developed for the field of wet deodorization. It fully absorbs the domestic and foreign high-pressure spray technology and is developed and produced with the concept of personalized design and high energy saving, effectively solving the problems of large investment cost and operation cost of traditional deodorization equipment. It only needs low energy consumption to meet the requirements of large-scale deodorization. The spray deodorization equipment is easy to operate and fully automatically controlled; The main equipment operates with ultra-low noise and meets national standards; Good results, improving the environment, reducing pollution, energy conservation and environmental protection, meeting atmospheric pollution emission standards; System intelligent control, no need to add civil engineering; The entire equipment has a small footprint and can also be installed on the wall.
Deodorization of landfill sitesprinciple
Deodorization of landfill sitesIt is the use of our company's core water treatment technology to extract deodorizing drugs or disinfectants from tap water and plants. The water is pressurized by a high-pressure pump driven by a motor and sprayed out through a specially designed stainless steel pipeline and atomizing nozzle, achieving an aerosol effect. Mist particles rapidly vaporize and adsorb and decompose pollutants, achieving multiple effects such as deodorization, disinfection, dust removal, and cooling. They can also remove trace solid dust in the air and increase air cleanliness. Control the operation and stop of the motor through an electrical control system. Micro fog deodorization system is widely used for odor removal, deodorization, disinfection, mosquito repellent, etc. in garbage dumps and breeding farms!
