The independent power sources for intrinsically safe portable electrical equipment are dry batteries and rechargeable batteries. Both dry cell and battery power sources belong to resistive circuits, and the safety parameters of the power source can be determined based on the small ignition current curve of the resistive circuit. The severe discharge state of the battery is a direct short circuit of the battery. Therefore, the short-circuit current of the battery should be used as the benchmark to measure the intrinsic safety performance of the power supply. If the short-circuit current of the battery is greater than the design allowable value, a current limiting resistor must be added in series. Moreover, the battery or accumulator is integrated with the current limiting resistor seal, forming an inherently safe component.
