Activated carbon deodorization method

Activated carbon, as an adsorbent, has good adsorption properties on most waste materials such as hydrocarbons, sulfur-containing, nitrogen-containing compounds, halogens, and their derivatives. The activated carbon deodorization device uses columnar activated carbon as the adsorption medium. Columnar activated carbon has a large specific surface area and is a traditional organic gas adsorbent widely used in various industrial fields. When air containing organic gases passes through the filter layer of the activated carbon deodorization device, the organic molecules in the gas will be intercepted, blocked, and adsorbed by the micropores of the activated carbon, and the gas phase will be transferred to the solid phase, thus achieving the purpose of gas purification.

Chemical washing method

The chemical washing method mainly uses strong acids, strong bases, oxidants and other solutions to wash gases, in order to neutralize, oxidize and react to remove odorous substances. Chemical treatment methods can efficiently treat substances with good water solubility in odorous gases. The equipment commonly uses a two-stage washing packed tower structure, with the first stage being acid washing and the second stage being alkali washing. Sodium hypochlorite solution with strong oxidizing properties is mixed with acid and alkali solutions for use. The system maintenance is simple and the operating cost is low, but it occupies a large area and has a high cost.

Photocatalytic oxidation method

Photocatalytic oxidation deodorization technology is one of the rapidly developing and widely promoted new technologies in recent years. The equipment is mainly composed of a UV ultraviolet light source and photocatalysts such as TiO2. Under UV irradiation, oxygen in the air comes into contact with photocatalysts and is excited to form active - O2 free radicals, which can oxidize and decompose odor molecules in exhaust gas into low molecular weight inorganic substances. But this type of equipment is suitable for places with low humidity and low dust. In the emergency deodorization of the garbage storage pit area, the catalyst surface is prone to condensation of water and dust, and the photocatalytic effect gradually decreases to failure. Therefore, an activated carbon adsorption device needs to be added to the back end of the photocatalytic oxidation equipment. During use, activated carbon plays a major role in adsorption and deodorization. In the initial stage, photocatalytic oxidation equipment has a deodorizing effect and a regenerative effect on activated carbon. Compared to the separate treatment scheme for activated carbon, this system has increased investment but reduced operating costs.
