Key points for installation and reading of luminous water level gauge
1、 Installation points

1. Installation location
-Choose a location with stable water level changes, no eddies or backflow, such as a straight section of a river or a flat dam body of a reservoir, to avoid water flow impact or silt accumulation affecting readings.
-Ensure that the ruler is perpendicular to the horizontal plane and that the zero point on the scale is aligned with the local reference water level (such as the Yellow Sea elevation). If it is a temporary measurement, the zero point can be set as the starting water level for the measurement.
2. Fixed method
-Cement/stone base surface: Use expansion screws or strong waterproof adhesive to directly paste and fix, ensuring a tight fit between the ruler and the base surface without looseness.
-Soil slope: Install metal/plastic brackets first, and then fix the water level gauge on the bracket to prevent the gauge from tilting or sinking.
-Underwater installation: It is necessary to do a good job of anti silt treatment at the bottom of the ruler, and an anti silt plate can be installed at the bottom to avoid the scale being covered by silt.
3. Protective treatment
-The surface of the ruler can be sprayed with waterproof varnish to enhance water resistance and corrosion resistance; The luminous coating avoids being scratched by sharp objects and prevents the luminous effect from becoming ineffective.

2、 Key Reading Points

1. Basic reading method
-Using the position where the water surface coincides with the scale as the reading reference, the integer part is directly read from the scale number, and the decimal part is calculated based on the number of grids on the scale (each grid on a conventional water level gauge represents 1cm or 10cm).
-Example: If the water surface is between the 5th and 6th scales and exceeds the 5th scale by 3 grids (1cm per grid), the reading is 5.03m.
2. Night Reading Techniques
-The luminous effect of the luminous water level gauge relies on light absorption. During the day, it is necessary to ensure that the gauge body receives sufficient light. When the luminous brightness is insufficient at night, a low light flashlight (to avoid direct sunlight on the luminous coating) can be used to assist in reading and prevent reflection from affecting judgment.
-When there are ripples on the water surface, take the average water level of the peaks and valleys as the reading to reduce errors.
3. Handling of special circumstances
-When there is floating debris/ice layer on the water surface, it is necessary to clean the local area and read based on the actual water surface. It is not allowed to read based on the surface of floating debris/ice layer.
-When the ruler body tilts, it is necessary to measure the tilt angle of the ruler body and convert the reading vertically to avoid deviation caused by direct reading.
