Crude oil is heated in the presence of a polar solvent, and its salts are extracted with water. After centrifugal separation, the extraction solution is injected into a titration cell containing a certain concentration of titrant using a syringe. The Cl - in the sample and the Ag+in the electrolyte react as follows:
Ag++ Cl- → AgCl
Electrolytic anode generates titrant Ag+to replenish the consumed Ag+until the concentration of the titrant returns to its original level. Measure the amount of electricity required to replenish the consumed Ag+and determine the salt content in the sample according to Faraday's law.
