Measurement principles and standard operating procedures
1. Working principle
Select Celox sensors that are compatible with the process and install them on the measuring lance
Immerse lance into molten steel, and the ZrO ₂ solid electrolyte in the sensor comes into contact with the molten steel to form an oxygen concentration cell
Sensors generate electromotive force (EMF) related to oxygen activity, while K-type thermocouples measure the temperature of molten steel
The Multi lab Celox instrument receives EMF signals and temperature signals, and calculates parameters such as oxygen content, aluminum content, and carbon content through a built-in metallurgical model
The measurement results and curves are displayed in real-time on the LCD screen and transmitted to the external system Heraeus Electro Nite through the output interface
2. Standard operating procedures (commonly used in front of the furnace)
Preparation: Check the power supply and interface connections of the instrument, select the appropriate Celox sensor, and install it on the lance
Measurement preparation: Align the lance with the liquid level of the steel, ensuring that the sensor is immersed in the steel
Start measurement: Press the measurement button, and the instrument will automatically start collecting EMF and temperature signals
Data reading: After 6-12 seconds, the LCD screen displays parameters and curves such as oxygen activity, temperature, aluminum content, carbon content, etc
Result application: Adjust the amount of deoxidizer and alloy added based on the measured values, or determine whether the molten steel meets the process requirements
Data recording: Transfer data to a computer or printer for archiving through an output interface, facilitating quality traceability
