【Product Introduction】 ：

PCT comes from a single copy gene located on chromosome 11 (11p15,4), which consists of 2800 base pairs and contains 6 exons and 5 introns. After transcription, it is translated into procalcitonin in the rough endoplasmic reticulum of thyroid follicular cells, including N-terminal 84 amino acids, active calcitonin, and calcitonin protein. Under the action of endogenous peptidases, procalcitonin precursor cleaves a single sequence at the nPro CT end, generating a 116 amino acid PCT with a molecular weight of approximately 13 kD. PCT and calcitonin share the same 32 amino acid sequence (positions 60-91). PCT is a non hormone active procalcitonin peptide substance.
