The coin shaped sensor is installed inside a metal envelope with contact plates, and the detection of combustible gases occurs on the active elements on the surface of platinum. When any combustible gas or vapor in the air is heated on the surface of the active elements, it will catalyze oxygen (relying on oxygen in the air). This oxidation process generates heat, increases the temperature of the active element, and increases its resistance. In the same environment, a similar element without catalyst (active element) is connected on the adjacent side of the Wheatstone bridge. When the resistance changes, this bridge will generate a current output corresponding to the gas concentration. This current output is amplified on the resistance of the instrument, displaying a reading of% LEL. When the reading exceeds the preset alarm point, an alarm will occur.
