Overview
Desalination of seawater refers to the production of fresh water by desalinating seawater. It is an open-source incremental technology for water resource utilization, which can increase the total amount of fresh water without being affected by time, space, and climate. The water quality is good and the price is gradually becoming reasonable, which can ensure stable water supply for coastal residents' drinking water and industrial boiler replenishment. The process of obtaining fresh water from seawater is called seawater desalination. The current seawater desalination methods include seawater freezing method, electrodialysis method, distillation method, and reverse osmosis method. Currently, the reverse osmosis method using reverse osmosis membrane quickly occupies the market with its advantages of simple equipment, easy maintenance, and modular equipment, gradually replacing distillation method as the most widely used method.

Equipment Overview:
Seawater reverse osmosis, also known as ultrafiltration, is a membrane separation desalination method that was only adopted in 1953. This method uses a semi permeable membrane that allows only solvents to pass through and not solutes to pass through, separating seawater from freshwater. The biggest advantage of reverse osmosis method is energy saving. Its energy consumption is only half of that of electrodialysis and 1/40 of that of distillation. Therefore, since 1974, developed countries such as the United States and Japan have successively shifted their development focus to anti infiltration laws.
The development of reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology is rapid, and the engineering and operating costs continue to decrease. The main development trend is to reduce the operating pressure of the reverse osmosis membrane, improve the recovery rate of the reverse osmosis system, use low-cost and efficient pretreatment technology, and enhance the anti pollution ability of the system.

Main features:
The range of impurity removal is wide, which can not only remove inorganic salt ions in water, but also various organic impurities.
There is no phase change during the water quality separation process, and it has a high desalination rate (up to 99.7%).
Large water production capacity and small equipment volume, capable of being installed on a pry or processed according to the actual size on site.
Low energy consumption, self controlled operation, and low investment cost.
Strong adaptability, wide application range, and no environmental pollution.

Operating conditions:
Based on the stable and safe operation of the reverse osmosis system, the following inlet requirements (pre-treatment equipment outlet requirements) are proposed:
⑴ Pollution index SDI: ≤ 5
⑵ Residual chlorine<0.1mg/1 (OT method)
⑶ Oxygen consumption<2mg/1 (Mn method)
⑷ Turbidity<1.0NTU
⑸ Concentrated water Langmuir index LSI < 0
Water temperature range: 5-35 ℃

Application scope:
As the core processing equipment in seawater desalination equipment, seawater reverse osmosis equipment, combined with pretreatment and subsequent desalination systems, has been widely used in seawater desalination treatment, electronics, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, metallurgy, and environmental protection fields.
