In the research and production of solid-state batteries, especially sulfide electrolyte systems, the control of trace moisture in the raw material lithium sulfide (Li ₂ S) is a key factor determining success or failure. Trace amounts of water can trigger a series of side reactions, seriously damaging the ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability of electrolytes. Therefore, it is crucial to equip a specialized moisture detection instrument that can achieve accurate, efficient, and reliable measurements. This article will introduce a solution specifically designed to address this challenge - the AKF-CH6 moisture analyzer based on the Karl Fischer Coulomb principle.

Instrument Introduction: The cornerstone of precise measurement
Solid state battery core material lithium sulfide Coulombic method moisture analyzerIt is an integrated Karl Fischer moisture analyzer with a heating furnace headspace sampling system. It is specifically designed to solve the problem of measuring trace moisture in various solid, powder, and paste samples. Its core advantage is that it can effectively avoid environmental interference and ensure the release of moisture in the sample, especially suitable for battery materials such as lithium sulfide that are extremely sensitive to moisture.
working principle
This instrument adopts the standard method for determining trace moisture - Karl Fischer Coulomb method. Its measurement process is precise and efficient:
1. Heating and evaporation: The accurately weighed lithium sulfide sample is placed in a sealed injection bottle and then placed in the instrument heating tank. The system heats according to the set parameters (such as 120 ℃) to fully vaporize the moisture in the sample.
2. Carrier gas transmission: Dry inert carrier gas (such as nitrogen) carries the vaporized water to the titration cell at a constant flow rate (such as 35mL/min).
3. Accurate titration and measurement: After the water enters the titration cell, it undergoes a quantitative reaction with the Karl Fischer reagent in the cell. The instrument monitors the amount of electricity consumed during the electrolysis process and automatically calculates the absolute mass of moisture based on Faraday's law, ultimately displaying the moisture content (ppm) of the sample directly.
Core configuration and characteristics of the instrument
To meet the testing requirements of high demand samples such as lithium sulfide, AKF-CH6 is usually equipped with the following core components to form a complete measurement system:
Fully enclosed and secure titration cell components: isolate the humidity of the laboratory environment, fundamentally ensuring the purity of the measurement background and the accuracy of the results.
Dual platinum needle indicator electrode: sensitively indicates the endpoint of titration, ensuring measurement accuracy.
Diaphragm electrolysis electrode: responsible for generating the iodine required for titration and achieving precise electrical titration of moisture.
Programmed control heating furnace: The heating temperature can be set and saved according to the characteristics of different samples, ensuring the release of moisture without decomposing the samples.
Its main characteristics can be summarized as follows:
High precision: It can accurately measure trace amounts of moisture up to the ppm level.
High repeatability: As shown in the test data below, the three parallel measurements have small deviations and excellent repeatability.
Efficient and convenient: Integrated design, simple operation, single sample testing time of about 10 minutes, greatly improving detection efficiency.
High safety: Fully enclosed system, avoiding direct contact of operators with reagents and sample volatiles.
Application example: Moisture determination of lithium sulfide
In practical applications, AKF-CH6 has demonstrated its excellent performance. For the determination of a lithium sulfide raw material:
-Method: Weigh about 0.5g of the sample, heat it at 120 ℃, and introduce water into the titration cell with a carrier gas flow rate of 35mL/min.
-Result: The results of the three parallel tests were 55.5ppm, 58.2ppm, and 56.1ppm, with an average of 56.6ppm. This data has good reproducibility, accuracy, and reliability, providing a key basis for material quality assessment.

Solid state battery core material lithium sulfide Coulombic method moisture analyzerWith its specially designed measurement principle for gas and solid samples, stable and reliable overall configuration, and excellent measurement performance, it has become a powerful tool in the field of solid-state battery material research and quality control. It not only solves the problem of measuring trace moisture in lithium sulfide raw materials, but also applies to other solid electrolytes, positive and negative electrode materials, etc. It is a powerful quality assurance instrument and equipment that helps solid-state battery technology move from laboratory to industrial application.
