The working part of a diaphragm pump mainly consists of a crank connecting rod mechanism, a plunger, a hydraulic cylinder, a diaphragm, a pump body, a suction valve, and a discharge valve. Among them, the driving mechanism composed of a crank connecting rod, a plunger, and a hydraulic cylinder is very similar to that of a reciprocating plunger pump.

When the diaphragm pump is working, the crank connecting rod mechanism drives the plunger to reciprocate under the drive of the electric motor. The movement of the plunger is transmitted to the diaphragm through the working fluid (usually oil) in the hydraulic cylinder, causing the diaphragm to oscillate back and forth.

1. Due to the use of air as a power source, the flow rate automatically adjusts with changes in back pressure (outlet resistance), making it suitable for fluids with medium to high viscosity. The working point of a centrifugal pump is set based on water. If it is used for fluids with slightly higher viscosity, it needs to be matched with a reducer or frequency converter, which greatly increases the cost. The same applies to gear pumps.

2. The use of pneumatic pumps in flammable and explosive environments is reliable and cost-effective, such as fuel transportation, because: firstly, sparks cannot be generated after grounding; Secondly, there is no heat generated during work, and the device will not overheat; Thirdly, the fluid will not overheat because the diaphragm pump has less agitation on the fluid.

3. In harsh areas of construction sites, such as construction sites and industrial and mining wastewater discharge, due to the high impurities and complex composition of sewage, pipelines are prone to blockage, resulting in excessive load on electric pumps and motor overheating and vulnerability. Pneumatic diaphragm pumps can pass particles and have adjustable flow rates, automatically stopping until unobstructed when the pipeline is blocked.

4. In addition, the diaphragm pump has a small volume, is easy to move, does not require a foundation, occupies a very small area, and is easy and economical to install. Can be used as a mobile material conveying pump.

5. In the handling of hazardous and corrosive materials, diaphragm pumps can isolate the materials from the outside world.
