- When analyzing total phosphorus, the sample is first mixed evenly with potassium persulfate and subjected to sealed high-temperature and high-pressure digestion,
Oxidation of all phosphorus present in various forms in the sample to orthophosphate;
- When conducting orthophosphate analysis, this digestion step is omitted;
- In an acidic medium, orthophosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate and potassium antimony tartrate to form phosphomolybdic acid compounds;
- The phosphomolybdic acid compound is reduced to a blue complex by the reducing agent ascorbic acid, and the color of the complex is directly proportional to the phosphorus content in the sample;
- The absorbance value of the reaction product is measured by photometry to obtain the phosphorus content in the sample. The measurement principle of the instrument fully complies with the national standard "Determination of total phosphorus in water quality - Ammonium molybdate spectrophotometric method" (GB/T11893-89).
