When measuring rainfall with a tipping bucket rain gauge, the range of the measuring tipping bucket changes. However, after we have debugged it, its range becomes fixed. During the counting process of the measuring tipping bucket, that is, if there is still rainwater in the funnel during the flipping process, some of the rainwater will be lost along with the flipping, and this part of the rainwater will be considered invalid and not included in the counting. This leads to a smaller final measurement result. Our experimental data can prove this point. So, to solve this problem, it is necessary to make the flipping angle or inclination angle of the measuring tipping bucket relatively small, or to ensure that there is no rainwater in the funnel during the flipping process of the measuring tipping bucket, that is, to ensure that the range of the four water storage buckets of the upper tipping bucket and the measuring tipping bucket is consistent. However, the inclination angle of the measuring tipping bucket is inevitable, so the latter can only be used to reduce errors, and this process needs to be solved during debugging. It is necessary to ensure that the rainwater passing through the upper tipping bucket only needs to flip the measuring tipping bucket exactly once. After this stage of debugging is completed, there will be no ineffective rainwater loss during the flipping process of the measuring tipping bucket.
