Tens of thousands of volts of direct current high voltage is applied between the anode cylinder and cathode wire of the WESP. Under the action of a strong electric field, a corona layer is generated around the corona wire, and the air in the corona layer undergoes avalanche ionization, producing a large number of negative ions and cations.


The fine dust particles, smoke particles, water vapor, as well as organic and inorganic gaseous molecules in the wet flue gas inside the anode cylinder are ionized and charged. After being charged, due to the Coulomb force of the high-voltage electrostatic field, they move towards the anode and cathode respectively, and release their respective charges when they reach the two poles. Thus, fine dust particles, smoke particles, water vapor, as well as organic and inorganic gaseous molecules in the wet flue gas are collected by the anode and cathode, and forced to transform from suspended and gaseous states into liquid adsorbed on the pipe wall
