Eddyfi Technologies has redefined and modernized underwater surface breaking detection equipment with the new TSC U41.

Faster inspection

Simultaneously connecting three probes avoids frequent returns to the water surface, saving time and increasing data processing speed by 10 times, improving scanning capability and detection integrity.
The Diver micro array probe and ROV full array probe reduce the number of scans and enable faster identification and localization of defects.
Reduce cleaning requirements and avoid cleaning to bare metal.

Improve data quality

The improvement of ACFM signal quality has increased data resolution by 14 times, and the accuracy and quality of collected data have been enhanced, enabling the amplification of collected signals.
The probe calibration file is saved on the probe instead of a remote PC. Avoiding the possibility of using incorrectly calibrated probes.
Low noise increases the signal-to-noise ratio and can be checked through a coating twice as thick as the previous model.

More user-friendly

The new Assist3 reporting software has a simpler and more modern interface.
The umbilical cord drum is greatly reduced: the weight is reduced by 1/3, and the drum is reduced by 1/3. Can connect 3 umbilical cords simultaneously, with a total length of 450 meters.

Usage

Transfer high-quality real ACFM detection data to the water surface

Diver operation - fixed platform, vessel or saturation diving bell (U41D/U41DA)

Lower the underwater machine to level with the diver, and connect the probe used by the diver to the underwater machine through a 5-meter cable. The umbilical cable between the underwater machine and the surface machine provides power and VDSL communication for the underwater machine, and communicates with the connected control laptop through Ethernet. The umbilical cord comes standard with a length of 150 meters and underwater connectors at both ends. Three umbilical cords can be connected together, with a total length of 450 meters. The underwater umbilical cord is connected through a 15 meter deck umbilical cord and placed in the surface unit of the diving control room (ACFM surface operator position). Divers can use simple Bx/Bz probes or mini (8-channel) arrays (probes require DA version).



Crawler deployed from cage (U41R)

Remote control crawler, control scanning array probe, inspect welds or motherboards. Place the crawler with underwater machine into the cage and connect it with a long probe cable (usable length ≤ 50 meters). Put it underwater from the side of the ship or platform.
ROV retrieves the crawler from the cage and places it near the work area.
The underwater vehicle is connected to the water surface through its own umbilical cord (using VDSL), and there is no electrical connection between the underwater vehicle and ROV.

The scanning array probe is installed on the customer customized scanner, which is deployed to the inspection site by ROV. The underwater machine is integrated on the ROV bottom boom and connected to the probe through a long umbilical cord (usable length ≤ 50 meters). Short lines are used to connect underwater vehicles and ROV electronic cabins, allowing the underwater vehicles to be connected to power and communication. Depending on the age and type of ROV, there may be various communication protocols available: RS232, RS485 (2-wire), RS485 (4-wire), or Ethernet.

The connection is the same as above. The probe is directly placed on the weld bead by a robotic arm, and the data of the short linear array coil is read. Then, the probe is moved along the weld bead to a new position (ensuring some overlap with the previous placement) to read another set of measurement data. After the weld bead is inspected in small sections, it can be connected together.
