Road dust refers to the accumulation of soil on the road that is lifted and mixed into the ambient air one or more times under certain dynamic conditions (such as wind, vehicle crushing, and crowd activity) to form particles with different particle size distributions, commonly known as road dust. Urban road dust is the result of migration and deposition from various sources such as atmospheric dust, vehicle carried, road wear, surrounding bare land, and building dust. It is also an important source of atmospheric pollutants and pollutants in urban surface runoff. Therefore, road dust has become an important source of fine particulate matter in urban atmosphere and a major public hazard in cities. The traditional manual monitoring methods for road dust accumulation cannot achieve real-time performance, and there is a lack of data sources for the comprehensive evaluation of road dust accumulation. There is also a lack of scientific and effective data support for road pollution control.

To solve the above problems, Beijing Qinghe Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. has developed an online monitoring system for road dust load on mobile platforms such as vehicles. The monitoring system consists of a roof background particulate matter monitoring unit, a vehicle bottom road dust collection unit, a data analysis and transmission unit, a vehicle mounted monitoring camera, etc. It overcomes time and space limitations and can quickly and accurately monitor the dust accumulation on urban roads.

The data aggregation center receives real-time road dust data collected during the driving process of monitoring vehicles, calculates the dust situation on the road surface through big data algorithms, and calculates the traffic dust emission factor of the road based on the vehicle speed and weight, in order to conduct potential dust emission statistics for various road sections in the city. It can query the monitoring points and cruise trajectory of the navigation monitoring system, collect dust data on various roads, and organize the data into a report through system calculation. It can also support export and other services.

The platform reserves data interfaces and uses standard environmental protection system communication protocols to interface with environmental monitoring systems at the provincial, municipal, and local levels.
