OXYTRANS TR needs to heat water in a steam boiler in order to produce steam by degassing the steam boiler water. The oxygen contained in water can cause dangerous corrosion. Therefore, the water is subjected to thermal degassing. Oxygen dissolves in steam and is discharged into the free environment through the so-called "Fegedampf" valve. Therefore, the steam output of the boiler will lose 0.2 to 0.5%. Using OXYTRANS TR, it is possible to measure the O2 content in the steam phase during degassing in the top space of the steam boiler dome, and to precisely control the valves used to discharge the steam flow rate. The remaining opening time of the valve is an indicator of steam savings. Steam loss can be reduced by up to 95%. A boiler with a capacity of 10 tons/hour, assuming a steam loss of 0.3%, results in an annual steam loss of 263 tons (365 days x 24 hours=8760 hours). Among them, 250 tons can be saved.
