Overview

EDI equipment is a continuous water production technology that combines ion exchange resin with direct current electric field. By applying a direct current voltage in the ion exchange membrane stack to drive the directional migration of ions in water and achieve electrochemical regeneration of the resin, a resistivity of ≥ 15 M Ω can be produced without the need for chemical agents; Cm of ultrapure water.

EDI equipment combines the principles of electrodialysis and ion exchange resins to produce pure water and ultrapure water through the selective permeability of ion exchange membranes and the ion exchange effect of ion exchange resins on ions in water. It has the advantages of technology, compact structure, small footprint, and easy operation, and is widely used in the fields of power, electronics, medicine, chemical industry, food, and laboratory, meeting strict requirements for water quality.
The core components of EDI equipment include anion and cation exchange membranes, as well as mixed bed ion exchange resins filled between the membranes. Under an electric field, water molecules dissociate into H+and OH - at the interface of the ion exchange resin and continuously regenerate the resin in the dilute chamber. During the regeneration process, cations and anions are attracted by the positive and negative electrodes and migrate through the resin towards the corresponding ion membrane direction. After these ions meet in the concentration chamber, H+and OH - recombine to form water, achieving directional migration of ions in water and achieving deep purification and desalination of water, with water quality reaching over 15M Ω· cm.
The generation and binding of H+and OH - ions, as well as the migration of anions and cations, enable continuous regeneration of ion exchange resins. Therefore, the EDI water production process can achieve continuous removal of dissolved ions in water without the need for acid or alkali chemical regeneration, and produce high-quality ultrapure water. The environmentally friendly and efficient processing method of this device significantly reduces operating costs and maintenance requirements.
