Plate and frame sludge filter pressIt is a solid-liquid separation equipment that uses high pressure to squeeze the water (free water) in the sludge through the filter medium (filter cloth), while solid particles are intercepted, thereby forming a sludge cake with lower moisture content.

It is one of the devices that can achieve low moisture content in sludge cake among various sludge dewatering methods. It can usually reduce the moisture content of sludge from over 98% to below 60%, and even reach 40% -50%, greatly achieving the reduction of sludge.

Main Structure and Components of Plate and Frame Sludge Filter Press

Rack: The supporting structure of the equipment, including thrust plates, compression plates, and main beams.

Pressing device: Hydraulic system, responsible for providing tremendous force to press all filter plates.

● Filtering unit:

(1) Filter plate: The core component, usually made of polypropylene (PP) material, is corrosion-resistant. Divided into box type filter plates and diaphragm press filter plates.

(2) Filter cloth: The key filtering medium, with different materials and pore sizes selected according to the properties of the sludge. Its quality directly affects the filtration effect and efficiency.

Electrical control system: controls the automatic operation of the entire equipment, including actions such as compression, feeding, pressing, loosening, and pulling plates.

Advantages:

The mud cake has a high solid content/low moisture content: this is its main advantage. The dehydration effect is superior to belt filter presses and centrifuges, making it easier for subsequent transportation, landfilling, or incineration disposal.

■ Good treatment effect and clear filtrate: The filter cake layer formed in the early stage of filtration also has a filtering effect, making the filtrate very clear and can usually be directly returned to the front end of the sewage treatment system.
