Shallow sand filters, also known as side filters, are mainly used for filtering circulating water, water supply, and wastewater in the industrial field. The media filtration system of HGBMF utilizes deep media to effectively remove particulate matter and reduce turbidity. If specific filter materials are installed, such as activated carbon, zeolite, etc., they can also adsorb and remove corresponding organic compounds, ions, etc. The fluidized device (bottom drainage device) in the system can fluidized the filter medium, remove pollutants trapped on the medium, and discharge them for cleaning.

1、 Filter characteristics

The backwashing system of the shallow sand filtration system has three modes: manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic, which can be operated through the manual button, internal clock PLC、 Activate the pressure differential or management system. The backwash time can be adjusted and is set to 3 minutes at the factory. There is a timer inside the system that can be used to set the appropriate backwash time for specific process conditions. By designing special controllers, high demand control such as centralized or remote control can be achieved.

Shallow sand filtration systems can be installed in different ways. Shallow sand filter can be used as an independent filtration system, utilizing the existing water supply pump in the process. The shallow sand adopts UNIGRAN series filter media, all of which are carefully selected, washed, and dried, with a minimum filtration accuracy of 0.45 microns. Homogeneous high-performance filter material combined with specially designed filters for water distribution above and below ensures that shallow sand can achieve excellent filtration effects even at high flow rates.

2、 Filter operation mode

When the system is in a filtering state, pressurized water flows from the inlet of the filter tank into the water distribution system and evenly reaches the filter material layer. When water flows through the filter layer, suspended solids are intercepted by the filter material. At the bottom of the filter, there is a water collector with precise gaps, and the filtered water is evenly collected and flows out of the filter. The precise gaps on the water collector can effectively prevent the loss of filter material. Mechanical linkage valves (pneumatic or electric) control the direction of water flow.

When the system is in automatic backwash mode, the backwash cycle is controlled by an increasing pressure difference. As impurities accumulate in the filter layer, the pressure loss increases continuously. When the pressure difference reaches a certain set value, the system will automatically switch to backwash mode. The pressurized water enters the filter layer through a fluidized bed device (i.e. a collection device), flushes it, and removes the trapped pollutants and discharges them out of the filtration system. After backwashing for at least 2 minutes, the valve automatically switches the system to filtration mode.
