1、 What is serum

Refers to a light yellow transparent liquid separated from fibrin in plasma after blood coagulation, especially immune serum (antibiotic serum) containing specific immune bodies (such as antitoxin or lectin); Or it refers to plasma from which fibrin has been removed (such as by coagulation or fibrinogen removal).

Serum is a culture medium that contains various nutrients necessary for cell growth and reproduction, such as proteins, peptides, etc. It is commonly used in cell culture, the production of biological products, and diagnostic reagents. Its main component is protein, and its composition and content are often related to the gender, age, physiological conditions, and nutritional conditions of the feeding animals.

2、 How to properly preserve serum

Serum that requires long-term storage must be stored in a -20 ℃ freezer (unopened serum has a shelf life of 5 years). If stored at 4 ℃, do not exceed 1 month. If one bottle cannot be used up at a time, it is recommended to aseptically pack and freeze the serum.

3、 How to thaw serum

The thawing of serum requires a gradual thawing method:

Dissolve the serum in a refrigerator at -20 ℃ and place it in a refrigerator at 4 ℃ for one day, then transfer it to room temperature and wait for it to dissolve completely before packaging. During the dissolution process, it is necessary to shake gently and evenly (be careful not to cause bubbles) to reduce the formation of sediment. Serum should not be thawed directly from -20 ℃ to 37 ℃, as the large temperature difference can cause protein coagulation and precipitation.

1. Immune function: Serum contains immunoglobulin (antibodies) that can recognize and neutralize pathogens and participate in the body's immune response. Through antibodies in the serum, the body can fight against infections and protect itself from disease invasion.
