Product Details

grateIt is a grid shaped cover that covers road drainage ditches and rainwater outlets. Its main function is to intercept large debris and allow surface water to flow smoothly into the underground drainage system.

Key features

1. Grid like structure (core feature)

This is the fundamental difference between it and a sealed manhole cover. There are gaps between the bars, allowing water to flow quickly through.

The width of the gap is carefully considered. If it is too wide, debris may fall into the pipeline and get stuck, while if it is too narrow, it will affect the drainage efficiency.

2. Intercept debris

The grate can intercept larger garbage such as leaves, plastic bags, and paper scraps, preventing them from directly entering underground pipelines and causing blockages.

3. Diverse materials

Ductile iron: commonly used, with high strength and good durability, commonly used in car lanes.

Grey cast iron: Low cost, but not as tough as ductile iron.

Stainless steel: commonly used in sidewalks and squares with high aesthetic requirements, corrosion-resistant.

Composite materials (resin): insulation, anti-theft, low cost, but relatively weak load-bearing capacity, mostly used in residential areas and sidewalks.

grate

Inspection well cover

Main functions

Collect and preliminarily filter surface water to allow it to flow into the rainwater system

Inspection wells covering underground pipelines for personnel to inspect and maintain

Appearance structure

Grid shaped with gaps

Sealed, solid (may have a small amount of drain holes)

What is below

Directly a rainwater channel or rainwater pipeline

A deep well (inspection well) where workers can go down to work

Installation location

Beside the curbstone or at the low point of the road surface

At intervals between turns, intersections, diameter changes, or straight sections of pipelines

Water passage method

Flowing down from the surface of the grate

Water flows through the pipeline below the manhole cover, without passing through the manhole cover

Simply put, water "passes through"grateIt's about 'bypassing' the manhole cover.

Issues to be noted

■ Blockage problem: During the deciduous season, the grates are prone to blockage, causing water on the road surface, which needs to be cleaned up by the municipal department in a timely manner.

Anti theft issue: In the past, the theft of cast iron grates was severe, but now non recyclable composite materials or reinforced anti-theft designs are commonly used.

■ Safety risk: In rainstorm, the turbulent water may break away the unstable grate, forming a dangerous vortex, so pedestrians and vehicles need to pay special attention.
