The detection of lightning protection devices is generally divided into testing and regular testing based on the condition of the inspected building.
The so-called testing refers to buildings that have not been tested by institutions with lightning protection testing qualifications, or buildings that have been tested by institutions with lightning protection testing qualifications but have exceeded the prescribed testing period.
The so-called routine testing refers to buildings that have been tested by institutions with lightning protection testing qualifications and do not exceed the prescribed testing period for the building.

Usage method of lightning protection device safety detection instrument:

The preparation work before conducting on-site inspection of lightning protection devices is called pre inspection. Before conducting lightning protection device testing, the testing instruments, meters, and measuring tools used should be inspected. The inspection contents are as follows.
(1) Instrument identification or calibration
Check whether the identification certificate and calibration certificate of instruments and meters are within the validity period. Generally, each testing instrument and meter is required to be included in the metrological testing. The testing unit can entrust a calibration unit with metrological certification qualifications to conduct routine metrological testing. If the testing is qualified, the calibration unit will issue a metrological certification certificate to each instrument and meter.
(2) Check the instrument battery
Check whether the batteries used in the instruments and meters are within the normal range. If the voltage of the battery is insufficient, a new battery should be replaced immediately. If the battery power of the instruments and meters is insufficient during testing, it is recommended to carry a set of backup batteries that are compatible with the instruments and meters with you.
(3) Check the appearance of the testing equipment and its accessories
Check whether the insulation layer of the test line used for inspection and testing is damaged. If there is any damage, it should be replaced or treated with insulation tape to avoid exposing the metal wire to live objects or grounding bodies during the testing process, which may endanger personal safety or affect the testing data. If a disconnection is found in a certain part of the testing line, the resistance block of the multimeter can be used to find the disconnection position of the testing line and handle it to avoid affecting the testing work.

28. Testing instrument box: optional configuration for carrying and storing the above-mentioned equipment

The qualification level for lightning protection device testing is divided into three levels: A, B, and C.
A Class A lightning protection device testing unit can engage in the testing of external and internal lightning protection devices for Class *, Class II, and Class III lightning protection buildings as stipulated in the "Code for Design of Lightning Protection of Buildings".
A Class B lightning protection device testing unit can engage in the testing of external and internal lightning protection devices for Class II and Class III lightning protection buildings as stipulated in the "Code for Design of Lightning Protection of Buildings".
Class C lightning protection device testing units can engage in the testing of external lightning protection devices and small internal lightning protection devices for Class II and III lightning protection buildings as stipulated in the "Code for Design of Lightning Protection of Buildings".
