Water source protection: A physical isolation zone is set up around the drinking water source, and a circular warning line is formed by connecting floating balls to prevent ships, swimmers, or floating objects from entering the core water area, reducing the risk of human pollution. For example, the Qiandao Lake drinking water source area adopts this method to achieve three-dimensional protection. ‌

Water intake warning: Set up a floating ball warning circle within 50-100 meters around the water intake of the reservoir to prevent damage to the water intake facilities caused by vessel anchoring or fishermen's operations. When designing, the distance between floating balls should be 5-10 meters, and solar warning lights should be installed on the top to enhance the nighttime effect. ‌

Surface garbage interception: At the upstream water inlet or tributary confluence of the water source, a flexible interception net is built using floating balls to intercept floating objects such as fallen leaves, tree branches, and plastic garbage, reducing the load on the water treatment plant.
