With the continuous introduction of environmental protection policies, the effluent discharge standards of urban sewage treatment plants have been raised from National Standard Level B to National Standard Level A, and then from National Standard Level A to Standard IV and III, respectively. The three main water quality problems faced by sewage treatment plants are TN, TP, and SS. Denitrification filters can simultaneously intercept SS and remove TN, and have been increasingly applied in sewage treatment plant upgrading and new construction projects. However, several commonly used denitrification filters currently have the following shortcomings: (1) filter material is prone to clogging, (2) hydraulic loss is high, and (3) operating energy consumption is high In order to address the drawbacks of traditional denitrification filters, our company has compared the advantages and disadvantages of various filters and identified activated sand filters as carriers. Through experiments and engineering applications, we have independently developed a denitrification activated sand biological filter. The filter material is not compacted, the hydraulic loss is small, and the operating energy consumption is low.

Denitrification activated sand biofilter is an efficient filter that integrates filtration and biological treatment, developed through technological improvement and innovation on the basis of traditional activated sand filters. It overcomes the major problem of static filtration tank clogging, single treatment indicators, limitations, and large flushing water volume. It not only has the advantages of traditional active sand filter, but also has biological treatment function, with a nitrogen removal rate of 5-10mg/L, effluent SS can be more stable within 5mg/L, and flushing water volume ≤ 5%.
