Instrument Introduction:

The Belfort Model 6400 visibility sensor is designed to monitor visibility conditions within a range of 6 meters to 80 kilometers. The Belfort Model 6400 visibility sensor includes digital outputs and relay outputs. The RS232/RS485 digital output in the range of 300~38400 baud is used to display real-time visibility and provide diagnostic information, while also providing an operational path for parameter setting and calibration of the instrument. SPDT relays can provide adjustable input and output points for VMS or other systems.

Belfort has designed and developed this new type of sensor by summarizing its successful experience in the application of visibility technology, ensuring that the instrument can maintain high accuracy even if it exceeds the limited range of visibility. Sensors have been designed with full consideration for ensuring accuracy and stability while controlling costs, and can be widely applied in fields such as automatic weather stations, highways, airports, lighthouses, ports, ships, and other offshore platforms.

The visibility sensor operates using the widely recognized forward scattering principle. A high output infrared LED emitter projects light into the sample air, and the forward scattered light is received by the receiver. The light source is adjusted to achieve the best and ideal suppression of background noise and natural variations in emission effect under background light intensity. Sensors can output visibility at user set time intervals through RS232/RS485 ports, or input commands to obtain data information in registration mode. The visibility can also be compared with the preset relay threshold, and the relay will activate when the alarm condition is met. The critical value of visibility can be set to any value within the operating range of the instrument.

The Model 6400 visibility sensor can be configured with a background brightness meter. The Model 6300 background brightness meter can measure the brightness of a 6-degree cone-shaped sky.

The sensor is installed in a lightweight protective housing and can be mounted on a simple support rod. The structure is sturdy and stable, made entirely of corrosion-resistant materials. The standard configuration includes a lens heater installed on the lens to prevent condensation of water vapor. The optional protective cover heater is very effective for sensors working in cold regions. The transmitter and receiver protective covers are designed to eliminate the impact of precipitation on instrument operation. The calibration kit is used for on-site calibration of sensors, which can be calibrated under various weather conditions. The Belfort visibility sensor has received widespread praise from important meteorological and transportation organizations worldwide, and the Model 6400 visibility sensor will continue its tradition of low cost and high quality.
