Direct fired oxidizers are capable of processing a wide range of concentrations of hydrocarbons, from concentrations of one billionth to pure hydrocarbon vapors. If the concentration of organic waste gas exceeds 25%, special measures should be taken to prevent backfire from the oxidizer to the source of the waste gas. The cost of this elastic ability to handle a large concentration range is the high fuel cost of this type of oxidizer.
Both regenerative and heat recovery oxidizers limit the concentration of treated organic waste gas to less than 25%: for regenerative systems, this limitation is due to the risk of thermal runaway. For heat recovery systems, there is a concern that the heat exchanger may be damaged. The solution can be to mix air into organic waste gas to reduce concentration or to do more heat recovery.

According to the notice issued by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Environmental Protection on July 12th,Since April this year, in response to the widespread environmental pollution problems in the three chemical industrial parks in Guanhekou, Lianyungang City and Yancheng City have implemented production suspension and rectification measures for enterprises with environmental pollution problems in chemical industrial parks in accordance with the lawSince June, the Fourth Central Environmental Protection Inspection Group has conducted a "look back" on environmental protection inspections in Jiangsu Province. Various regions have conscientiously implemented the requirements of the inspection group, restricted production and suspended production for some severely polluting enterprises in accordance with the law, and severely cracked down on environmental violations, achieving good results.

And this environmental inspection storm has also affected multiple listed companies.

According to media reports, the inspection team of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment conducted a special inspection on the serious environmental pollution of Huifeng Co., Ltd. in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province in mid to late March 2018 based on public reports. After investigation, the inspection team found that Huifeng Group has serious environmental violations, including illegal disposal of hazardous waste, illegal transfer and storage of hazardous waste, long-term illegal discharge of high concentration toxic and harmful wastewater, and abnormal operation of pollution control facilities. In addition, Huifeng Group also fabricated a temporary hazardous waste management ledger and provided false reports in response to the on-site inspection by the inspection team.

To this end, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment sent a letter to the Jiangsu Provincial Government on April 11, requesting that the environmental violations of Huifeng Group be seriously investigated and dealt with, and that a comprehensive investigation and excavation of illegal landfill hazardous waste, ecological environment damage identification and assessment, and restoration work be carried out as soon as possible.

In late April, Huifeng Co., Ltd. stated that it had quickly formulated a rectification plan and established a special working group in accordance with the rectification opinions of the environmental protection authorities; On May 10th, Huifeng Co., Ltd. received a notice from the Environmental Protection Bureau of Dafeng District, Yancheng City, requiring the company to implement production shutdown and rectification in all production workshops except for the environmental protection workshop, in order to eliminate environmental safety hazards. The production workshop must pass the acceptance inspection before resuming production. Without consent, production cannot be resumed without authorization.

Types of pollutants

Special care must be taken when organic waste gas contains high concentrations of substances that can be converted into organic acids, such as chlorine, fluorine, sulfur, and halogens. They can cause severe corrosion to the equipment or poison the catalyst.

The level of particle emission

Special care must also be taken when organic waste gas contains tiny particles. For example, when the exhaust gas contains oil mist particles, they will accumulate in the colder parts of the pipeline and oxidizer, and this equipment needs to be cleaned regularly.
