A rotary vane vacuum pump is composed of a rotor installed concentric with the drive shaft and located in an eccentric position inside the pump body. The rotor has three radially sliding blades, which divide the pump chamber into three working chambers. The pumped gas enters from the suction port and enters the pump chamber through an open check valve and filter screen. When the rotor rotates, the working chamber that completes the suction is isolated from the inlet and compresses the gas, and the gas is discharged through the passage between the pump chamber and the exhaust box. Rotate once and repeat the operation three times.

Installation and use of XD rotary vane vacuum pump:

XD rotary vane vacuum pump is a type of vacuum pump with a relatively complete structure, which can work at any inlet pressure. Therefore, it has a wider range of applications compared to general rotary vane vacuum pumps. Currently, this pump is widely used in vacuum packaging of various foods, vacuum forming of rubber and plastic industries, paper transportation of printing industries, vacuum leakage prevention of various castings, vacuum fixtures, vacuum drying, vacuum filtration, vacuum power testing, and vacuum suction in hospital operating rooms, among other vacuum treatments within the vacuum range that this pump can achieve.

Installation method:

1. Installation of XD rotary vane vacuum pump

XD type rotary vane vacuum pump should be placed horizontally. It is generally not fixed when there is almost no vibration during pump operation. There are metric screw holes on the bottom damping pad of XD rotary vane vacuum pump to fix the pump. Do not push or pull the pump on the ground to avoid damaging the damping pad.

To ensure good cooling of the XD rotary vane vacuum pump, the cooling air inlet and outlet of the pump should be at least 30cm away from surrounding objects. For ease of maintenance, it is recommended to leave a gap of 0.4m in front of the inlet and outlet of the XD rotary vane vacuum pump. For the convenience of oil discharge, a base with an oil drain pan can be installed.

The XD rotary vane vacuum pump is shipped without oil. After installation, slowly inject the specified vacuum pump oil (see Maintenance 5.1) through the oil filling port to 3/4 of the oil window height.

2. Electrical connection of XD rotary vane vacuum pump

The electrical wiring of XD rotary vane vacuum pump must be carried out by a professional electrician. Appropriate motor overload protection devices should be used.

A single-phase 220V50HZ vacuum pump must operate within a voltage range of 220V ± 10%. If the voltage is lower than 220V, an AC power stabilizer must be installed. Do not work under low and high voltage for a long time to avoid damaging the motor.

After the wiring of the XD rotary vane vacuum pump three-phase asynchronous motor is completed, the motor rotation direction must be checked. The correct rotation direction of the motor is counterclockwise when viewed from the fan end at the rear of the motor.

When checking the rotation direction of the XD rotary vane vacuum pump, the suction port should be opened or covered with a rubber plate (with a thickness of 4mm or more), and the power should be turned on for 2-3 seconds. If the rotation direction is correct, a strong suction force will be felt at the suction port or the rubber plate will be tightly sucked in. If reversed, swap any two of the three power lines.

Note: The XD rotary vane vacuum pump will be damaged if it is operated incorrectly for a long time.

3. System connection of XD rotary vane vacuum pump

The size of the intake pipe of the XD rotary vane vacuum pump should not be smaller than the size of the suction port and should be as short as possible. Use Loctite 515 or Teflon tape for vacuum sealing at threaded connections.

If the extracted gas contains dust impurities, a dust filter must be installed at the inlet end of the pump. If necessary, the exhaust pipe can be connected and tilted downwards.

4. Starting of XD type rotary vane vacuum pump

After determining the oil level, the XD rotary vane vacuum pump can be started. After the first start-up and each change in wiring, the rotation direction must be checked before starting the XD rotary vane vacuum pump.

5. Operation of XD rotary vane vacuum pump

Before normal operation, it is advisable to close the intake valve and allow the pump to operate at maximum pressure for more than 15 minutes, which can effectively remove water vapor from the gas. The electric motor should not be started frequently (preferably less than 6 times/hour). It is recommended to install an electromagnetic valve on the pump inlet pipe during intermittent cycle operation. During non working stages, the electromagnetic valve should be closed to allow the pump to operate at its maximum pressure state. This way, the electric motor consumes less power but can effectively protect the vacuum pump.

Note: During normal operation, the surface temperature of the oil separator, pump cover, etc. will exceed 70 ℃. Do not touch them with your hands.

XD rotary vane vacuum pump cannot be refueled during operation.

6. Extreme pressure measurement of XD rotary vane vacuum pump

The ultimate pressure of XD rotary vane vacuum pump should be measured directly at the pump suction port using a compression vacuum gauge. The inlet of the XD rotary vane vacuum pump should be closed for at least 1 hour after use, long-term storage, and replacement of oil. After reaching the working temperature and sufficient degassing of the pump oil, the ultimate pressure should be measured.
